Mood Indigo

Mood Indigo is a 1930 theme by Duke Ellington and Barney Bigard. this is my arrangement, played on a baritone ukulele with reentrant tuning.

The ukulele is tuned to G with a high fourth string (d G B E). I placed a capo on the second fret for a more comfortable fingering.

On the first section the arrangemente is almost a straight chord melody, (ab)using dynamics and fast strummings (softened on the theme’s return); for the second section I combine some fingerpicking with four to the bar strums interspersed with the melody’s notes.

This recording was the sixth issue of my (failed) project of 52 videos–one each week–in 2015.
