Speak Low

Speak Low (1943) is a tune by Kurt Weill, first introduced in the Broadway musical One Touch of Venus. It has reached the status of jazz standard, having been recorded by artists such as Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald & Joe Pass…
IIRC, my first contact with this tune was through Ute Lemper’s rendition. This was one of the first jazzy tunes I arranged for ukulele and though it has been in my repertoire (and Pequeño Formato’s) for many years, I never recorded, nor transcribed, the solo ukulele version. Hope you like I did it!

Although this rendition is played on a low G ukulele, the arrangement is also playable on a reentrant instrument.
